What a year!

They say time flies when you’re having fun, and this year has absolutely whizzed by! Now classes have finished, and we just have to submit our final independent projects in a few weeks, we thought this would be the perfect time to reflect upon our time in MAMT at Central…

Our final year production was Sondheim’s Into the Woods, in Central’s beautiful Embasssy Theatre. We played Cinderella’s stepsisters Lucinda and Florinda, and we really enjoyed working with a brilliant external team of professionals, including our wonderful director Adam Lenson, and fabulous MD Nick Barstow. It was a weird and wacky time, but rehearsals really were a dream and it was hard to say goodbye to the magical world we created in a library…

Our beautiful housemates: Hana DeHart as the Stepmother, Isabella as Florinda, Amelia Davies as Little Red, Phoebe as Lucinda, and Aoife Macnamara as the Baker’s Wife

In June, we then moved onto Audition Unit, which required each of us to prepare 1 monologue and 2 contrasting songs. This process was very similar to the experience of agents’ showcase back in March, but this time we really enjoyed feeling more empowered to choose our own material and work in collaboration with Maria our singing teacher, and Ben Caplan who helped with our monologues. Our final rep saw Phoebe sing the outrageous “Spring” from Poems and Moon Songs with “Some Things are Meant to be” from Little Women, and Bella sang “Disneyland” from Smile, and “Finer Things” from Paul Gordon’s Jane Eyre. We especially loved showcasing our newly-found belt/mix ranges which we were proud to achieve and perform.

Now, even though we are missing not seeing our coursemates every day, we are truly looking forward to a glorious summer and what seems to be an exciting near future – watch this space..!
