I Can Do That! A Miscast Cabaret

On Sunday 23rd February, we performed at the Toulouse Lautrec bar & venue as part of the I Can Do That! Cabaret, founded by Laura Feenan and Natasha Kayser. Laura and Tash were on our MA course at Central, and first started this project as part of their final projects on the programme. The event was all about actors and singers performing musical theatre numbers in which they would not normally be cast, due to gender, certain stereotypes, appearance, or specific details in the show.

The cabaret night was a lot of fun with a whole host of different performers and a varied repertoire with songs from The Phantom of the Opera, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Shrek the Musical, and more! We performed “You and Me (But Mostly Me)” from The Book of Mormon, but we changed the usually male-male duet into a competitive face-off between two sisters.
